  • Colombo West International Terminal, South Asia's premier terminal, is the future of maritime logistics. The state-of-the-art container terminal located at the Port of Colombo will increase the port’s current capacity by 3.2 million TEUs to handle multiple ultra-mega vessels concurrently and will play a vital role in supporting the growing trade and logistics needs of Sri Lanka and the surrounding region.

    At Phase 1 completion, our terminal features eight automated Ship to Shore cranes, eighteen fully automated CRMG cranes, and sixty-two fully electric Internal Terminal Vehicles (ITVs) for efficient and sustainable operations.

As we reflect on the year gone by, I am pleased to share that Colombo West International Terminal (Private) Limited (CWIT) has continued to make significant progress in its journey towards becoming one of the most advanced and efficient container terminals in the region.

The achievements of the past year are a result of strong collaboration among all stakeholders who have contributed to realizing our shared vision. Their continued support and commitment have been instrumental in maintaining the momentum of this transformative project.

I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to our talented and dedicated team. Their professionalism, expertise, and unwavering commitment to excellence have enabled us to achieve key operational and development milestones while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance.

The continued confidence shown by our investors, customers, and partners reflects a strong belief in the opportunities and long-term potential of Sri Lanka and the Port of Colombo as a leading maritime hub in the Indian Ocean. This trust has supported the timely infusion of investment and resources required to advance the project according to plan.

A particularly exciting development has been the continued progress of our Phase 2 expansion. The arrival of new state-of-the-art cranes and the advancement of critical infrastructure mark important milestones in strengthening the terminal’s capabilities and preparing for future growth. These investments will further enhance capacity, operational efficiency, and our ability to serve the evolving needs of global shipping lines.

As we look ahead, we remain focused on delivering world-class infrastructure, embracing innovation, and creating sustainable value for our stakeholders while contributing to the growth and competitiveness of the Port of Colombo and Sri Lanka’s maritime sector.
