The Colombo West International Terminal (CWIT) prioritises a safe and healthy workplace for all personnel. We ensure compliance with health, safety, and environment (HSE) requirements, provide resources and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and foster a culture of safety through training and awareness, while actively monitoring and investigating incidents, and taking corrective action to maintain safe working conditions.
To ensure occupational health and safety protocols are strictly adhered we follow a multi-faceted path which includes legal compliance, resource allocation, personal protective equipment (PPE) provision, OHS systems development, the safety of personnel and visitors, worker awareness, incident investigation, injury register maintenance, subcontractor compliance, maintaining safe working conditions, timely action and monitoring, training, and incident reporting.
CWIT ensures all workers and visitors use provided, properly fitted personal protective equipment (PPE). Users are instructed in PPE use and maintenance. All PPE conforms to applicable standards and is replaced if defective.
